A Dairy Queen in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has sparked controversy with a sign declaring its “politically incorrect” stance. The sign, which includes greetings like “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Easter,” also shows appreciation for veterans, offering them free sundaes.
Owner Kevin Scheunemann says the sign has been up for nearly four years, in response to a complaint about Christian music being played. Scheunemann stated, “We’re trying to be transparent about our dedication to serving God and the country.”
Recently, a tourist from Oregon posted a picture of the sign on Facebook, expressing concerns about its exclusivity. The post drew significant attention before being taken down. While some people support the sign’s message, others have expressed offense. Local business owners defend Scheunemann, saying, “Customers are free to leave if they disagree with the restaurant’s principles.”
Dairy Queen’s corporate office has clarified that Scheunemann’s views are his own and emphasized that all franchisees must treat customers with respect and decency regardless of their beliefs.
